It is said that, with kids, the days can be long but the years go by fast. For Associate Rosy Hartz, 25 years of faithful parish youth ministry and faith formation can fit that sentiment.

Rosy (third from left), characteristically, worked on a service project together with young people, associates, and religious – one example of a collaborative mindset she brings to ministry.

Last week, as Viatorians and ministers around the church moved to start new assignments, Rosy celebrated 25 years of continuous ministerial service to St. Viator Catholic Community in Las Vegas. Rosy began on July 1, 2001, hired by Fr. Richard Rinn, CSV, the recently retired pastor. She married her husband, Associate Paul Hartz, at St. Viator. Her daughters, Abby and Kara, went to St. Viator Parish School, and the Hartz family belongs to the parish. And all the while, she has walked with wave after wave of young people in the parish and archdiocese.

After marking her 20th anniversary five years ago, this milestone is another opportunity to round up the breadth and depth of her ministry with and for young people. Following that 20th anniversary, Rosy appeared on our Viatorian Voices podcast to talk about family life with Abby, helped host a vocation visit to St. Viator, and contributed to the National Vocations Awareness Week Instagram takeover.

In 2023, (left to right) Abby, Paul, Rosy, and Kara celebrated together as Rosy and Paul received their foundation dinner honors.

In 2023, Rosy emceed the archdiocesan conference in Las Vegas, supported youth as prayer planners and prayer leaders following the UNLV shooting, facilitated a VIatorian vocation visit to Las Vegas ministries, continued supporting youth in leading Taizé Prayer, and, with her husband, Paul, received the St. Viator School Foundation honors.

In 2024, Rosy assisted the vocation team by prepping a young adult cookout during their immersion weekend in Las Vegas, celebrated 60 years of religious life with Fr. Larry Lentz, CSV, and continued outreach to her youth at their schools.

In 2025, she shared her vocation story and participated as a delegate with our international Viatorian Community at our General Assembly, contributed as a panelist to the archdiocesan documentary, led another great Confirmation retreat, and earned a certification in Faith, Innovation, and Social Impact.

So far this year, she helped us feature impactful VYC leadership and formation and collaborative liturgy at St. Viator, and she stepped into a support role coordinating young adult ministry for the Archdiocese of Las Vegas.

Rosy has helped build up and sustain St. Viator Parish School campus ministry, with ministry such as this service event in 2024, this visit to ill and elderly people in 2024, and this hygiene kit packing activity in 2021.

Rosy often takes part in regional Viatorian events, including the Executive of the Year luncheon hosted by Cristo Rey St. Viator earlier this year, pictured here (right) with Associate Deborah Perez (left).

And of course, she has continued leading Vacation Bible School (VBS), seen in these stories from 2024, 2023, 2022, and 2021; leading young people to LA Youth Day, seen in these stories from 2025, 2024, and 2022; leading trips to National Catholic Youth Conferences (NCYC) in 2025, 2024, 2023, 2022, and 2021; and leading trips to Viatorian Youth Congresses (VYC) and assisting with leadership, including in this story from 2025.

She has been shouted out for mentorship and serving as the voice of God’s invitations by Associate Patrick Aller and Associate Anthony Gugino, among others who cite her as an inspiration in their vocations.

And these are just the stories we have at Viatorians.com – there are plenty more to share. Congratulations and thank you, Rosy!
