Formation in the Charism with Fr. Arnold Perham, CSV

In January 2025, Viatorian associates gathered for a morning of faith formation, studying the charism and mission of the Viatorian Community together. The presenter for the morning was Fr. Arnie Perham, CSV, who passed away in June. Fr. Arnie compiled a rich presentation combining Viatorian documents, liturgy and sacred music, and stories and photos from Viatorian communities around the world, as well as clever teaching metaphors, comparing it all to Bob Dylan’s music, the Chicago Cubs, and more. Here, we collect some of the highlights of Fr. Arnie’s presentation and share his insights on the Viatorian charism with you. Each episode in this seven-episode series follows one of the seven themes of Catholic Social Teaching. Within each episode, clips of interviews with Viatorians and Viatorian-connected peers unpack parts of the CST theme and offer questions for reflection.

Viatorians are committed to walking with youth and people who go underserved. To strengthen and sustain us in this mission, we looked to kindred spirits in Church ministry to share insights and advice from outside our sponsored ministries.

In Bolder Dreams, we follow Fr. Querbes’ wise advice that “we are bolder when we dream we’re doing God’s work,” and seek to learn from faithful ministers seeking to build the Kingdom of God across the Church.
