In 2011, St. Viator High School (SVHS) will celebrate its 50th anniversary. The school opened in September of 1961.

The SVHS celebration committee started researching this month in the Viatorian archives. Mark Condon, committee representative and SVHS alum from the charter class of 1965, along with others on the committee, are culling through the records and photographs a few days a week. Nothing definite as to the format of the end product, but it will tell the school’s history over the past five decades including photographs and stories of alums, faculty and staff.

The kick-off celebration will be at the Night of the Lion Gala to be held at Navy Pier in Chicago on April 9, 2011. The honorees of the event are the Clerics of St. Viator.
