The Midwest Archives Conference (MAC) was held in Grand Rapids, MI from Thursday, April 19th – Saturday, April 21st.  350 members were in attendance this year.  It was inspiring and overwhelming at the same time!

Amway Grand Plaza Hotel – modern glass tower on the river

Workshops and presentations were held in the Amway Grand Plaza Hotel, located on the Grand River.  The opening reception was right across the river in the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Museum.

Many archival tours were offered around town.  I toured the Special Collections at the Grand Rapids Public Library and the Michigan Masonic Museum and Library, both within walking distance of the hotel.

Presentations attended this year involved internship programs, web site preservation, using social media, archival content management systems, the future of religious archives and digital preservation.

MAC celebrated its 40th anniversary.  As always, the MAC annual meeting is the best value around – low cost and high take-away!
