Viatorians are committed to walking with youth, teaching them the faith, and making meaningful spaces for them to become leaders in Church life. A major example of this commitment is our Viatorian Youth Congress and its team of Young Adult Leaders (YALs).
.
Since its inception in 2010, VYC has always been primarily led by college-aged young adults, who apply for this leadership role. YALs are young Catholics who love sharing their faith, setting an example for teens, and being a mentor and support during the program and after. Plus, they’re generous young people who are willing to dedicate a week of their summer to ministry and service.
Thankfully, our parishes and schools form young people in a lively and enlightened faith, and our community has cultivated a strong culture of youth leadership that continues to fuel VYC.

This year’s 11-person YAL team represents all four areas of our province and includes a young adult from Utah who just met us at a national Catholic conference.
In Episode 92 of Viatorian Voices, our VYC 2025 YALs bring you into this year’s VYC, which begins today. Hear from them in their own words about how VYC helps young people deepen their Catholic faith, understand our Viatorian charism and mission, and emerge as leaders in our Church.
“Personally, VYC has helped me grow my faith. This is why I’ve returned gone on to higher education to hopefully become a campus minister and work with teens and young adults,” YAL Viviana Tellez said. “This is a good way to put your faith and working with others into one. I love all the fun Viatorians bring. Often, people feel faith has to be strict, but we make it fun.”
“VYC removes you from your day-to-day and the busyness of your normal schedule. You’re in a space where you can focus on yourself and your relationship with God,” YAL Fareed Sayegh said. “You’re in a space with people who have the same common goal of learning of wanting to get closer with God and learn about the Viatorian mission.”
