Especially in light of the massive cuts to support for vulnerable people in the recent budget reconciliation bill, the National Network for Youth is rallying support for the Homeless Children and Youth Act.
NNY writes, “Topline Changes Relevant to Youth Homelessness: Medicaid spending will reduce by $930 billion. SNAP spending will reduce by $156 billion. Congress also eliminated an important work reporting exemption for youth exiting foster care, youth experiencing homelessness, and veterans. Pell Grants and Student Loan eligibility will be drastically limited.”
The Provincial Council for the Clerics of St. Viator, Province of Chicago has signed on to endorse the HCYA with the NNY petition.
