Fr. Daniel Mirabelli, CSV, died on February 21, 2026 in Moline, IL. He was born on September 24, 1931 in Chicago, Illinois, the son of John and Linda (Micelli) Mirabelli. He is survived by his sister Marianna Dituro of Downers Grove, IL. Fr. Daniel pronounced his first vows on February 2, 1952. Following studied at the Viatorian Seminary, he was ordained May 28, 1960, by Bishop Martin McNamara at the Cathedral of St. Raymond Nonnatus, Joliet, IL.
Fr. Daniel graduated from Fenwick High School, Oak Park, IL. He earned a BA in history from St. Ambrose College, Davenport, IA, and an MA in American History from Loyola University Chicago. During the school year of 1955-56, he taught at Spalding Institute in Peoria, IL. He served as business manager and teacher at St. Viator High School in Arlington Heights, IL, from 1961 to 1966. From there, he went to Alleman High School in Rock Island, IL, where he served from 1966 to 2023 as teacher, business manager, Director of Development and Chaplain. Fr. Mirabelli continued to live in the Rock Island area after retirement.
His visitation was March 1, 2026 at Alleman High School; his Mass of Christian burial was celebrated March 2, 2026, at Sacred Heart Church in Moline, IL. He was then buried in Queen of All Saints Cemetery in Hillside, IL.
