Last summer, St. George Parish in Bourbonnais and its pastor, Fr. Dan Belanger, CSV, obtained a grant from the Viatorian Community to purchase video production equipment and filmmaking gear, including a green screen.
Fr. Belanger and other Viatorian parishes typically receive grants to enable young people to attend the annual Viatorian Youth Congress, but with the pandemic he requested a grant for a parish-wide endeavor instead.
“We’ve started a Return to Me Ministry, targeting young people in the parish,” Fr. Belanger explains, “with the hopes of bringing more people back to the church.”
With the sophisticated filming equipment, Fr. Belanger and his parishioners have livestreamed Masses and filmed Stations of the Cross.
