Happy National Vocations Awareness Week (NVAW)! During this first week of November, the Church strives to bring greater visibility to religious life, priesthood, and consecrated life. As Viatorians, we also celebrate the vocation of Viatorian association for single and married women and men in our Viatorian Community.
To kick off NVAW, we have a new vocation story video from our very own Fr. Moses Mesh, CSV. The video starts with his one-of-kind story of a health scare that revealed some breadcrumbs about his potential path – you’ll have to listen to hear it!

Fr. Moses goes on to share how he founded a kindergarten in his home village, became principal of the school, and then connected with the new school supervisors who started in 1998: the Clerics of St. Viator. Then-Fr. Chris Glancy, CSV, and Fr. Dan Hall, CSV, led St. Francis Xavier Parish in Corozal Town, which included the smaller villages around the area, too. “Fr. Chris said, ‘When you come to get your pay at the parish office, you can stay with me and talk for a while.’ So, I did – for six months he was talking to me every time I went for my payday. That stayed with me,” Fr. Moses said.

Fr. Moses (right) enjoyed a community night during the priesthood ordination weekend for Br. John Alexander Avellaneda, CSV, earlier this year.
Fr. Moses also appreciated visits to Belize from the late Fr. Bill Carpenter, CSV. He made a point of bringing Fr. Moses an American children’s lectionary to help Fr. Moses do faith formation for children in better language than the standard adult lectionary language could do. “So, he gave it to me and said, ‘I want you to be in charge,’” Fr. Moses said, recalling this invitation to coordinate children in liturgical ministries and strengthen faith formation. “I think that is what triggered to me more to become a religious. He had charged me with something which I could do, and I felt very good.”
Fr. Moses’ story is the newest addition to our My Vocation Stories Playlist on YouTube, which also includes stories from Bishop Chris Glancy, CSV, and Fr. John Eustice, CSV. These three stories are also available as a new podcast episode in our Viatorian Voices feed – listen to audio versions in Episode 121 on YouTube, Spotify, or Apple Podcasts.
