Check out the December 2010/January 2011 issue of Mathematics Teacher, the journal of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics. Fr. Arnold Perham, CSV and his sister Faustine Perham have co-authored the cover story (on pages 344-349) titled “Looking to Mars for Mathematics Connections.” They present an activity, suitable for a geometry, second-year algebra or pre-calculus class, that focuses on the Martian orbit.
