After nearly three months of being closed, Maternity BVM Church in Bourbonnais — long regarded as the “cradle of the Viatorian Community” — opened its doors over the weekend to welcome parishioners for Mass.

“It is with great joy that the time has come that we may welcome our parishioners back to church,” said Fr. Jason Nesbit, CSV, Pastor.

He and Fr. Dan Lydon, CSV, Associate Pastor, worked with the leadership team and staff members of the parish to create a plan within state guidelines and those of the Diocese of Joliet. They now are able to gradually welcome people into the church for Mass, prayer and the sacraments.

“It is important for everyone to understand that our efforts will prioritize the safety and well-being of all,” Fr. Jason added, “while maintaining due respect and reverence for the sacraments and liturgical norms of our
faith.”
