Happy almost-St. Viator Day! With the feast day of our community’s patron saint on October 21, today’s podcast is a replay of Episode 76 that digs in the meaning of the name and word viator, the story of St. Viator, and how we invoke his name in our faith lives today.
.
In this episode, you can turn to the ancient Romans’ Via Appia and modern usage of the word “via” to understand more about why we call ourselves people “on the way.”
Then, we share the story as we have it of St. Viator, from his ministry as a reader at Mass – during a time when few people were literate – to his contemplative era as a desert monk with St. Just.
Finally, we invoke the name of St. Viator and ask for his intercession in a number of ways, not least through his namesake parishes and schools in our province and around the world as well as our house of hospitality for people seeking asylum named for this saint “on the way.”
