Happy Religious Brothers Day!

May 1 is the feast of St. Joseph the Worker, who is the patron saint of religious brothers, so today, we celebrate our brothers and invite your prayers as we ask God’s blessings upon them.

Here is a quick update on each of our brothers in the province:

Viatorian Brothers in Vows

Br. Edwin Alfonso Barreto, CSV: serving as a Spanish teacher at Colegio San Viator (Saint Viator School) in Bogotá and supporting ministry at Parroquia San Viator (Saint Viator Parish). He will soon resume theological studies.

Br. Pat Drohan, CSV: in semi-retirement in residence at Villa Desiderata, in McHenry, IL, where he has ministered for his entire 60+ years of religious life.

Br. Carlos Flórez, CSV: serving as Director of Catholic and Viatorian Identity for Cristo Rey St. Viator, North Las Vegas, NV.

Br. Michael Gosch, CSV: serving as Director of Programs and Housing for Viator House of Hospitality in Illinois and involved in several peace and justice initiatives, including Sisters and Brothers of Immigrants.

Br. Peter Lamick, CSV: studying theology full-time with a view to ordination at Catholic Theological Union, Chicago. (Br. Marc Innocent Prophète, CSV, of Haiti is also studying ordination-track theology at CTU.)

Br. P. Enrique Medina, CSV: serving as a religion teacher at Colegio San Viator in Bogotá and studying for a master’s in education at Universidad Javeriana.

Br. Juan David Ramirez, CSV: serving as a math teacher at Colegio San Viator in Tunja and will soon begin studies in theology and philosophy at Universidad Javeriana.

Br. Michael Rice, CSV: living in the Province Center retirement community, contributing to history projects in his native Galesburg, IL.

Br. Rob Robertson, CSV: serving as a counselor at Saint Viator High School, Arlington Heights, IL.

Br. Carlos Suárez, CSV: serving as pastoral ministry coordinator at Colegio San Viator in Tunja.

Br. Julián Camilo Torres: in his novice year (since January) in our Latin American-Caribbean novitiate in Puente Alto, Chile.
