One of the core missions of the Viatorian Community is raising up communities “where faith is lived, deepened and celebrated.”

That is certainly evident in parishes where Viatorians serve. With a new school year starting, practices started up in music ministry at parishes like Maternity of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Bourbonnais and St. Thomas More Catholic Community in Henderson, NV.

Chris Lord directs music ensembles at Maternity BVM, and there are many. From the Mustard Seeds Children’s Choir, to the newly formed fifth and sixth grade choir and instrumentalists, to the youth ensemble and adult choir; music is an important piece of the parish’s liturgical celebrations.

Music also drives all the Masses at St. Thomas More, where Viatorian Pre-Associate Lisa Fairweather directs children’s and adults’ ensembles. They recently began rehearsing once again and soloists even took to the recording studio to begin taping their Christmas album.

As the mission statement reads: “(Viatorians) are especially devoted to catechizing children and adults — and to animating liturgical life.”

What better way to animate liturgical life, than through vibrant music with parishioners of all ages participating.
