Br. Edwin Barreto, CSV, professed his first vows as a Viatorian in 2019 and the news keeps getting better.
Earlier this month, Br. Edwin participated in a graduation ceremony at Santo Tomás de Aquino University in Bogotá, after completing his undergraduate degrees in philosophy and Spanish.
While the pandemic limited the graduation to just the graduates, the celebration was no less joyous for Br. Edwin and the rest of the Viatorian Community in Colombia.
“Edwin’s degree fills us with joy in the formation community, as it is a new step in his academic growth for service in education,” says Br. Jhobany Orduz, CSV, director of temporary professed in Bogotá.
Br. Edwin works as a professor of literature and Spanish at the San Viator International Bilingual School in Bogotá and lives in the formation house for young brothers.
When he made his first profession, Br. Edwin said he was drawn to the Viatorians because of their charism, prayer life and pastoral work with people of all ages.
“I was motivated by that spirit of service, brotherhood, and ability to find spaces of intimacy with God,” he said. “I wanted to be with men who find joy in being ready to contribute their abilities for the benefit of others.”
