Associates gathered recently from four different religious communities — including the Viatorians — for a day of reflection, and it turned out to have a profound effect.

“This retreat reaffirmed why I am an associate,” said Viatorian Associate Donna Schwarz.

The event drew associates from the Sisters of the Living Word, Sisters of Charity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Sisters of Providence and the Viatorian Community. They spent time together reflecting on their roles, both individually and within their respective congregations.

“It was interesting to hear how other communities incorporate their associates,” said Viatorian Associate Karen Cutler. “Just the nuts and bolts of it, how they renew their commitments and prepare for association.”

Associates exchanged ideas in small group and large group sessions, and looked for ways to support one another.

“It was exciting,” said Viatorian Associate Tim Schwarz. “With the commitment of these associates, these Catholic communities are thriving. Our missions and influence will continue for many years to come.”
