Fr. Juan Carlos Ubaque, CSV and Br. Carlos Suárez, CSV represented the Viatorians at last week’s Catholic Youth Festival (el Jubileo de los Jóvenes), where nearly 1,500 young people came together celebrating Jubilee 2025: Pilgrims of Hope.

Fr. Juan Carlos and Br. Carlos presented about the Viatorians at a vocational fair for the youth participants. They also took part in attending concerts, formation workshops, rosaries, Adoration, and more throughout the weekend. Cardinal Luis José Rueda Aparicio, Archbishop of Bogotá, and Monsignor Edwin Vanegas, auxiliary bishop, celebrated Masses, and the Viatorians greeted them at their booth.
“It was an important opportunity to be with young people from different places,” Fr. Juan Carlos said of the crowd – which came not just from Bogotá and Tunja, where we minister, but also from Bucaramanga, Duitama, and Barranquilla. “We gave witness to our vocation of service to young people and had to chance to participate in these celebrations of faith.”
The two-day festival took place on the grounds of Saint John Bosco Parish. Drawing on the Gospel of John, the theme was “and he pitched his tent among us” – and young people were welcome to camp overnight at the festival.

For our part, Viatorians are grateful for these opportunities to walk with youth, minister the Sacraments to them, and model the faith for them. As Vocation Director of our Foundation of Colombia, Fr. Juan Carlos’ presence and engagement at youth gatherings helps us continue sharing our charism and inviting young people to consider God’s invitations for their lives, including Viatorian association and religious life.
“May this Jubilee of Hope continue to fill the Church with the desire to follow the Lord and grant each of us creativity and love for our Viatorian vocation,” Fr. Juan Carlos said.
