Last fall, Br. Peter Lamick, CSV, jumped at the chance to return to his alma mater, Saint Viator, and coach underclassmen in football.

“The experience I had playing football in high school helped instill in me some critical values,” he said last fall.

With the winter season here, Br. Peter, a 2007 Saint Viator alum, has joined the ranks of the basketball coaches, and he’s not alone.

A near record number of alumni have returned this year to coach basketball — 12 — and their impact is being felt on both the girls’ and boys’ teams.

Even on the sophomore team where Br. Peter is an assistant, he works with head coach, Mike Manno ’94, and assistant coach Mike Majkowski ’05.

Brian Liedlich, president of Saint Viator, says the school is blessed to have so many alumni come back and teach life lessons to young student athletes.

“Their desire to come home, after earning their professional credentials and certifications, is significant,” Liedlich says. “We often share stories of the unique community and nurturing environment that we offer students entrusted to our care.

“Could there be a stronger example of what the Viator family means,” he adds, “than to have so many proud alumni come back to pay forward their experience to another generation of Viator students?”
