Later this month, Maternity BVM Parish and its youth ministry program will host its signature Camp MOSH, or Maternity Outreach Service for Humanity.
The six-day, on-site service trip in Bourbonnais sends teens into the surrounding neighborhoods to complete much needed projects. At each location, they post a sign that says it all: “Another Project Blessed by Camp MOSH.”
This summer, the community has noticed.
Camp MOSH and its participants were named the grand marshal of the Children’s Parade, hosted by the Bourbonnais Friendship Festival Committee.
As a result, Fr. Jason Nesbit, CSV, pastor, rode in a classic convertible from the ’60s, while teen and adult volunteers walked the parade route and distributed candy to their young fans.
That’s not all.
The festival committee, whose goals is to give back to organizations that make a difference in Kankakee County, made a donation to Camp MOSH to help with this year’s expenses.
Festival officials chose Camp MOSH as its grand marshal because of its mission to enlist young people in carrying out community service projects — right in the parish’s backyard.
