More than 40 years later, he still personifies that spirit and the entire Viatorian community applauded him at the high school’s annual Night of the Lion gala.

“We’re here to celebrate and honor someone special to us all,” said Fr. Corey Brost, CSV, president. “He is a man who clearly exemplifies what it means to be ‘A Lion for Life.’ ”

For the last 17 years, Bristol has announced varsity basketball and football games, but his impact goes beyond the sports arenas. Bristol has played important roles behind the scenes, including serving as president of the board of trustees and on the development, finance and advancement committees, as well as president of the alumni association.

“He is dedicated to the spirit of Saint Viator,” said Fr. Charles Bolser, CSV, former president, “and making it come alive with others.”

In accepting the award, Bristol described the Viatorian priests and brothers who had taught him, as role models, who had helped to shape his future.

“They had an impact on my life at a time when I needed someone,” Bristol said, “and I will be forever grateful.”
