What if you could hear God’s voice on a daily basis? How would your life be different?
And if you could ask God one question, what would it be?
Those were just some of the questions driving the “What If?” junior high retreat at St. Viator Catholic Community in Las Vegas.
Viatorian Associate Paul Hartz led the one-day retreat, with the help of Viatorian Youth Congress graduates, including: Mike Kershaw, Ashley Rosenberger, Shanel Sako, Celeste Escobedo, Santana Garcia, Vanessa Marshall, Natalie Johns, Anthony Gugino and Tommy Gugino.
The group of more than 60 teens and their young adult leaders met in the parish center for the retreat. The day included breakout workshops on how to incorporate prayer into sports, journaling, music, art, nature and friendships.
In one exercise, they wrote on crosses the question they would ask God, while on a heart they wrote where they see God.
“We take the responsibility of accompanying young people, seriously,” says Bart Hisgen, assistant vocations director, “as they learn to hear God’s voice in their lives and respond through prayer, service and commitment to a community of faith.”
