Every six years, delegates and leaders from the worldwide Viatorian Community gather for the General Chapter. Over the course of two weeks, Viatorians gather in prayer, discussions about governance, and ultimately elect the next Superior General.

Fr. Mark Francis, CSV, Provincial, has attended every General Chapter since 1978, as a translator, delegate and twice as Superior General. He attended the most recent General Chapter in July in Vourles, France, and in this podcast episode he reflects on the growing diversity in the Viatorian Community.

“As the congregation changed, so has the composition of the General Chapter,” Fr. Francis says. “from no people of color in 1978 to over one third of the delegates and over half of the support staff from the Global south. It’s been a remarkable shift and change.”
