Associate Mary Finks was among the first group of lay men and women to make commitments to the Viatorians as associates. It was back in 1999 and she has remained an active member of the community ever since.

“It’s been such a joyful relationship,” she says, “so much give and take.”

In this latest podcast episode of Viatorian Voices: Conversations on the Way, Mary reflects on her profession as a hospice nurse and in particular how she approached her work as a Viatorian.

“Talk about caring for those accounted of little importance,” Mary says, “often you will find yourself at the bedside alone with the dying person. It’s a deeply spiritual time to be with somebody when they leave this world.”
