We have ended our Lenten Season, our 40 days in the desert so to speak, preparing for this moment. Hopefully, you have used these days wisely. Some approach Lent as they would any other 40 days. Others merely try to get through it, but some take the spirit of Lent and utilize these days to really take that long hard look at their life and make changes that help them grow closer to God.

Alleluia! He is risen!

We have heard these words so many times that I believe we take them for granted. We assume that we know what they really signify and the impact that they have. Yes, God did raise Jesus from the tomb after three days as predicted by so many of the prophets and Jesus’ own words. But, let’s face it, we are modern day people and while we might acknowledge that Jesus was raised from the dead, we really don’t get too excited about the good fortune of others.

Sadly, we do not read far enough into the scriptures to really understand and appreciate the significance of these four little words. He said that “I am going to prepare a place for you so that where I am you also shall be.”

The resurrection of Jesus is a supreme point of joy for all believers because His resurrection includes us. His promise includes us. Our challenge in life is to live a life that is worthy of that promise.

May God continue to bless you and your loved ones during this Easter Season and may you share that blessing with others.
