The United Nations declared June 26th as the International Day in Support of Survivors and Victims of Torture. Thus, many human rights organizations have marked June as Torture Awareness Month in an effort to educate the public about the use of torture both at home and abroad.
On June 26th, the Marjorie Kovler Center, which serves survivors of torture, is hosting a program honoring survivors of torture and remembering those who did not survive torture. Here are the details:

“Every day, women, men and children are tortured or ill-treated with the intention of destroying their sense of dignity and human worth. […] By concretely supporting victims of torture, the international community will prove its unequivocal determination and commitment to fight torture and impunity.”
