The Viatorian Community is a member of the National Religious Campaign Against Torture, which just released this 11-minute video: “No Doubt, It Was Torture!”
The film describes the key findings after a two-year investigation that there is no doubt that the United States engaged in torture of detainees taken into custody after 9/11, and that the torture was authorized at the highest levels of government.
Members of the Constitution Project’s Task Force on Detainee Treatment conducted the investigation — and concluded that the use of torture was clearly illegal.
A discussion guide accompanies the film, that is designed to provide a platform for faith communities to discuss what has become a significant social justice issue in the post-9/11 era.
In the film, several national religious leaders from various religious traditions discuss their faith perspectives against torture and why the religious community must continue to be involved in efforts to make sure torture never happens again.
