VYCTeens Assemble at the 2011 Viatorian Youth Congress
8/8/2011

They came, they witnessed --- and they connected.

The 2nd annual Viatorian youth Congress brought together 40 teenage delegates and 12 young adult leaders from across the United States for four days of prayer, reflection and discussion about how they play a role in the Viatorian Mission.

“It allows these young people to see how they are connected to a much larger mission than just their parish or school.”” says Fr. Corey Brost, CSV, spiritual director for the event that took palce from Aug. 1-4 in Techny, Illinois.

Fr. Mark Francis, CSV, superior general of the Clerics of Saint Viator, opened the Congress and he put forward a global vision for its participants.

“Our aim is to share the hope and joy that God has placed inside of us with our neighbors,” Fr. Francis said. “The way we live those hopes and joys in every day life, is our spirituality. I think as Viatorians, we do that in a special way.”

The Congress sought to unpack the spirituality of the Viatorian community, drawing attention to the importance of communal liturgical events, a rich interior life of prayer, and tangible ways to get involved in the life of social concerns.

“Our intentions are clear,” Fr. Brost added. “We want to help young people fall in love with God and become active participants in the life of the Viatorian community.”
