TaizeScience Teachers in Belize Learn from Viatorian Master
8/9/2011

Fr. John Milton, CSV, admits it: he likes spending his free time in physics labs. That must explain why he volunteered to host a workshop for science teachers in Belize, after retiring from teaching physics at De Paul University.

He returned in early August from Belize and he still marveled at how many teachers from the Viatorians’ foundation in Corozal Town, attended.

“I expected maybe a dozen,” Fr. Milton said. “Instead, there were 27.”

Fr. Milton took them through a series of student lab exercises on electrical circuits, magnetism, and image formation with lenses, all using equipment that he had brought with him.

“I’m hoping they will be able to use these lab exercises with their students,” Fr. Milton said. “The equipment and the lab sheets are theirs to keep.”

He will send additional teacher background notes and student review materials before the opening of school in September.
