A highlight of the Viatorian assembly was the celebration of the congregation’s jubilarians. Fr. Donald Wehnert, CSV, presided at a special Mass, where seven priests celebrated 60 years as Viatorians, while two more celebrated their 50th anniversaries as priests, and another celebrated 50 years of religious life.
Members reaching 60 years include: Fr. Robert Cooney, CSV; Fr. Donald Fitzsimmons, CSV; Fr. Donald Huntimer, CSV; Fr. Thomas Langenfeld, CSV; Fr. Donald Wehnert, CSV; Fr. Eugene Weitzel, CSV; and Fr. Kenneth Yarno, CSV.
Fr. James Fanale, CSV, celebrate 50 years of religious life while Fr. George Auger, CSV, and Fr. Jack Linnan, CSV, reach 50 years of priesthood. It was Fr. Linnan who delivered the homily, stressing that “it’s all about God,” rather than their individual accomplishments.
“We celebrate the love that God has for us, that his love draws us into being --- out of nothingness,” Fr. Linnan said. “The holy mystery that we call God, left the mark of his creative touch on us.
“As we celebrate these jubilarians, we are celebrating God’s presence in them,” Fr. Linnan continued, “and God’s work that has been done through them.”
After singing the Litany of the Saints, members of the province renewed their commitments as Viatorians by reading together the Viatorian Mission Statement. |
