Fr. Corey Brost, Br. Michael Gosch, Fr. Thomas Long, Br. Daniel Lydon, and Br. Rob Robertson attended the annual demonstration at Fort Benning, GA, home of the Western Hemisphere Institute for Security Cooperation (WHINSEC) formerly known at the School of Americas (SOA).
The institute has trained over 65,000 Latin American soldiers, a number who have used their skills to wage war and commit horrendous acts of violence against their own people. Viatorians gathered at the gates of Fort Benning on November 20th for a four hour rally that featured talks and music from national and international human rights activists.
On November 21st, they returned to the base for a memorial service to honor and remember those who have been tortured, disappeared and/or murdered by SOA/WHINSEC graduates. For more information, please visit www.soaw.org. |
