Members of the province supported and participated in the December 18th, 2009 prayer vigil at Broadview Detention Center, where undocumented persons are detained before being sent to McHenry County Jail to await deportation hearings, and the two mile procession to Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish in neighboring Melrose Park, to draw attention to the plight of immigrants.

Fr. Thomas Long, CSV, a member of Priests for Immigrants in the Archdiocese of Chicago, represented the community.  Viatorians will also participate in a postcard campaign January through March 2010 calling on elected officials to pass compassionate comprehensive immigration reform.
