Today is World Refugee Day, and the Viatorian Community joins with the United Nations in celebrating the many contributions refugees have made in our local communities and we stand in solidarity with them as they seek to better their lives.

Br. Michael Gosch, CSV, joins with Sisters and Brothers of Immigrants in advocating for immigration reform.

That’s why Viatorians are joining with other faith communities as well as nonprofit organizations and advocacy groups  in demanding humanitarian treatment for refugees who are under attack by the United States.

In response to a global crisis of displaced persons – over 65 million worldwide – the current administration has cut the refugee resettlement program by 75 percent and capped the number of refugees admitted to the U.S. this year at only 30,000.

We can and must do better.

In honor of World Refugee Day, Viatorians invite their supporters to call on our government to step up and protect refugees fleeing torture, violence and persecution.

Call the Capital Switchboard at (202) 224-3121 and ask to speak with your Members of Congress, both your Senators and your Representative.
